Security operatives across nine states have recorded a series of successes in the fight against crime, including the arrest of suspects linked to murder, sexual assault and armed robbery, the rescue of a kidnapped victim, recovery of firearms and ammunition, and the interception of suspected bandits.
According to information gathered, police operatives in Enugu State arrested two suspects on August 19, 2026, in connection with the murder of a neighbourhood watch security member. The deceased’s motorcycle and mobile phone were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.
In Bauchi State, police arrested a suspect on August 18 in connection with a sexual assault case involving an infant. The victim was rescued and promptly evacuated to a hospital for medical examination and treatment.
Meanwhile, in Anambra State, police operatives acting on credible intelligence intercepted a gang of armed hoodlums along Eziowelle Road on August 19. A gun duel ensued, during which two suspects were neutralised, while others fled into nearby bushes.
The operatives recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with four rounds of live ammunition, one magazine, a pump-action gun and five live cartridges.
In Kaduna State, security operatives rescued a female victim who was abducted in Jurawa Village, Lere Local Government Area, on August 19. The operatives swiftly mobilised following the abduction and successfully rescued the victim, who was subsequently reunited with her family.
Security operatives also repelled an attack by armed bandits at Dinawa Village, Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State, on August 18. The operatives engaged the attackers and overpowered them, forcing them to flee into the forest. Security teams have continued clearance operations in the area in an effort to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
In Delta State, police operatives responded to an armed robbery incident in Amukpe, Sapele, on August 19, arresting one suspect while his accomplice escaped. A locally made double-barrelled gun and two expended cartridges were recovered from the scene.
Also on August 19, security operatives in Kebbi State mobilised following an attack at Agwada Village, Jega Local Government Area. An injured victim was promptly evacuated to General Hospital, Jega, for medical treatment.
In Kwara State, police operatives arrested a suspected notorious bandit during a stop-and-search operation on August 18. Information recovered from the suspect’s mobile phone reportedly revealed plans and logistics relating to a planned attack on Ilesa Baruba.
Photographs of arms and ammunition, alongside other relevant intelligence, were also recovered from the device. The information is expected to assist security agencies in taking preventive action against the planned attack.
In another incident in Kebbi State, rescue teams successfully rescued 19 police personnel following a ferry mishap on August 19. Recovery operations are still ongoing for personnel reported missing, as well as a service firearm.
The various operations underscore the continued efforts of security agencies to prevent violent crimes, disrupt criminal networks, rescue victims and recover weapons across the country. Investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
