In a statement issued on Monday, June 15, 2026, the President paid glowing tribute to the literary icon, noting that only a few individuals fully realise the abundance of their talents, adding that Osofisan stands out as one of those exceptional personalities who have profoundly impacted humanity through their creativity and scholarship.
Tinubu described the emeritus professor as a multifaceted intellectual whose contributions span theatre, literature, academia and journalism.
He noted that throughout his career, Osofisan has remained committed to addressing societal challenges and advocating moral reawakening through his writings and public engagements.

“His life and accomplishments are a demonstration of service, dedication and hard work,” Tinubu said, praising Osofisan’s enduring commitment to scholarship, theatre and national development.
The President described the octogenarian as one of Nigeria’s finest minds, commending his consistent advocacy for national rebirth and social transformation through intellectual engagement and artistic expression.
