The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, have urged Nigerians in the diaspora to unite and actively support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The call was made during a Strategic Global Diaspora Conference organised by the Directorate of Diaspora and Global Affairs of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, which attracted more than 600 participants from Africa, the United Kingdom, North America, Europe, Canada and Australia.
Speaking at the virtual gathering, Prof. Yilwatda stressed the need for stronger cohesion among APC members living abroad, describing the diaspora community as a vital force in advancing Nigeria’s image and supporting government policies.
He urged participants to strengthen communication channels, promote awareness of government reforms and achievements, and establish structured media teams capable of countering misinformation and projecting positive narratives about Nigeria across the world.
The APC chairman also highlighted the importance of diaspora involvement in voter education, investment mobilisation and advocacy for the policies of the Tinubu administration.
In his remarks, Governor Uzodimma emphasised the need for grassroots mobilisation and unity among APC supporters in the diaspora, saying their collective efforts would be crucial in consolidating support for President Tinubu and securing electoral success for the party in 2027.
Also speaking, Uba Sani, Governor of Kaduna State and Deputy Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, described diaspora participation as strategic to the organisation’s objectives.
He commended Abike Dabiri-Erewa for facilitating the conference and noted that Nigerians abroad possess significant capacity to mobilise grassroots support and contribute to electoral victories.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard Doro, underscored the need to connect diaspora expertise with governance at the grassroots level.
He advocated the creation of a robust media network driven by young Nigerians to showcase government achievements and effectively respond to misleading narratives.
Similarly, Chief Tayo Ayinde, Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor and Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Lagos State, highlighted what he described as key achievements of the Tinubu administration.
According to him, recent developments such as renewed investor confidence, major infrastructure projects and the student loan initiative under the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund) demonstrate the impact of ongoing economic reforms.
On her part, Dabiri-Erewa, who also serves as Director of the Diaspora Directorate, pledged to intensify engagement with APC members across the globe through improved communication strategies and policy dissemination initiatives.
The APC Diaspora Coordinating Chairman, Mr. Tunde Doherty, and the Operational Director of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Mr. Tayo Shodeinde, described the conference as a landmark gathering of APC diaspora leaders and representatives from various chapters worldwide.
They said the meeting was aimed at strengthening coordination among members across different regions and laying the foundation for future party initiatives.
Participants at the conference unanimously pledged their support for the objectives of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and promised to mobilise members in their respective countries in support of the administration.
Discussions during the session focused on fostering unity among diaspora communities, enhancing grassroots engagement, improving communication with government officials and compiling a comprehensive record of President Tinubu’s achievements for wider dissemination among Nigerians abroad.
Moderated by Mac Babafemi, the conference forms part of an ongoing global engagement programme designed to deepen collaboration between APC supporters in the diaspora and stakeholders at home in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.
