President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday, May 2, 2026, for an official visit to France, Kenya, and Rwanda, as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s international partnerships and economic positioning.
According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, the President’s first stop will be in France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, where he will participate in the upcoming Africa-France Summit scheduled to hold from May 11 to May 12.
The summit, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, will focus on critical areas including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and the restructuring of the global financing architecture.
With the theme, “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” the summit is expected to provide a platform for African and French leaders to deliberate on pressing issues such as economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, technological advancement, and peace-building initiatives.
The Presidency noted that Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to deepening strategic partnerships with African nations and France, while advancing shared development goals.
Following the Kenya engagement, the President will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the annual Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 to May 15.
The forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” is regarded as the continent’s largest gathering of private sector leaders, investors and policymakers. It will focus on driving economic transformation through regional integration, shared scale, and increased cross-border investments.
Organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation, the forum will host over 2,000 top executives and government leaders to explore strategies for building resilient and competitive industries across Africa.
At both summits, President Tinubu is expected to present his administration’s reform agenda aimed at repositioning Nigeria as a leading destination for investment and economic growth. He will also hold high-level meetings with global and African business leaders.
The President will be accompanied by ministers and senior government officials and is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the Rwanda engagement.
