The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has rescued a 43-year-old woman and her two-year-old son from a kidnappers’ hideout in a forest in Kwara State following a tactical operation by its operatives.
The rescue operation was carried out on Saturday, June 4, 2026, in the Bode Sadu forest by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department’s Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), working in collaboration with local security support groups, after receiving credible intelligence on the victims’ whereabouts.
According to the police, the kidnappers opened fire on the advancing operatives in an attempt to resist the operation. The officers, however, responded with superior tactical force, compelling the suspects to flee further into the forest.
Following a thorough search of the area, the operatives rescued the victims, identified as 43-year-old Adijat Kuburat and her two-year-old son, Abdul Malik Hamzat, from the kidnappers’ camp.
The police said both victims have been taken to a medical facility for treatment and are receiving appropriate care.
The Force added that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network responsible for the abduction.
Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives for their bravery and professionalism during the rescue mission.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes through intelligence-driven and collaborative operations, assuring that security agencies would continue to pursue criminal elements until they are brought to justice.
