The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced major operational gains recorded across the country in April 2026, including the arrest of 280 suspected criminals and the rescue of 189 kidnapped victims.
The achievements were disclosed in a statement highlighting the Force’s ongoing efforts under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
The Police said the successes reaffirm their commitment to intelligence-led policing and the protection of lives and property nationwide.
According to the statement, coordinated operations by tactical and investigative units led to the arrest of 28 suspected terrorists, 85 suspected kidnappers, 62 armed robbery suspects, 51 individuals linked to murder and culpable homicide, and 54 suspected cultists.
In addition to the arrests, police operatives rescued 189 victims from various criminal hideouts and captivity locations across the country.
The operations also led to the recovery of 140 assorted firearms, 1,074 rounds of ammunition, and 37 stolen vehicles believed to have been used in criminal activities.
The Inspector-General commended officers and men involved in the operations for their professionalism, resilience, and dedication to duty.
He noted that the results demonstrate the growing effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing, as well as improved collaboration among security agencies.
He further reassured Nigerians of the Force’s determination to dismantle criminal networks, enhance public safety, and sustain reforms aimed at building a more accountable and people-centered police institution.
The Police also called on citizens to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information, stressing that ensuring national security is a collective responsibility.
