The Oyo State Government has extended by 24 hours the curfew earlier imposed on 10 local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park, citing ongoing security concerns in the affected communities.
The extension was approved by Governor Seyi Makinde and announced in a memo issued on Thursday, June 25, 2026, by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.
The state government had initially imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. on June 23, 2026, in response to security challenges in parts of the state. The restriction was originally scheduled to last for 48 hours.
However, with the latest extension, residents in the affected areas will continue to observe the curfew until Saturday, June 27, 2026.
The government said the measure is aimed at maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of lives and property in communities surrounding the Old Oyo National Park.
The affected local government areas include Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba.
Oriire Local Government has its headquarters in Ikoyi-Ile, while Orelope is headquartered in Igboho and Irepo in Kisi.
