The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, for what it described as notable successes in the fight against economic and financial crimes in Nigeria.
The commendation came on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, during a courtesy visit by NANS leaders to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, NANS Secretary General, Shedrack Anzaku, praised Olukoyede’s leadership qualities, describing him as a man of “integrity, stellar performance and impeccable character” worthy of emulation by Nigerian students.
He said the association was inspired by the EFCC boss’s commitment to youth empowerment, education, and national development.

Anzaku announced the conferment of a National Outstanding Leadership Award on Olukoyede, noting that the honour was in recognition of his contributions to improving the lives of Nigerians, particularly the underprivileged.
He further disclosed that NANS was ready to partner with the EFCC in tackling cybercrime, especially among students.
According to him, the association would begin reporting cases of internet fraud on campuses to the Commission, adding, “We want to be partners in progress. When we see something, we will say something.”
Also speaking, the Director of Special Duties in the Office of the NANS Secretary General, James Uneze, lauded Olukoyede’s leadership, stating that his efforts in promoting accountability, justice, and transparency had significantly contributed to national development.
Uneze said the visit was partly to congratulate the EFCC chairman on what he termed “successful service delivery” in the fight against corruption and pledged continued support from Nigerian students in reporting crimes and promoting integrity.
He added that students across the country were ready to serve as ambassadors of the EFCC, stressing their collective resolve to reject corruption and fraud both on campuses and in society.
Responding, Olukoyede, through the EFCC Director of Public Affairs, Wilson Uwujaren, expressed appreciation for the visit and the students’ commitment to promoting ethical conduct.
He encouraged the students to remain steadfast in upholding integrity, noting that the EFCC’s work is ultimately aimed at securing a better future for young Nigerians.
Olukoyede highlighted the Commission’s ongoing collaboration with educational institutions through initiatives such as anti-corruption clubs, aimed at instilling ethical values among youths.
He stressed that the fight against corruption and cybercrime requires collective effort, warning that the rising involvement of young people in internet fraud continues to damage Nigeria’s global reputation.
He stated, “The sacrifice that we are making is for you,” adding that recovered funds are reinvested into the economy to support infrastructure and social services.
The EFCC chairman urged students to intensify efforts in spreading anti-corruption messages across campuses, emphasising that they are critical stakeholders in building a corruption-free Nigeria.
“You are key stakeholders in the fight against corruption… All of us must come together to say no to corruption and financial crime,” he said.
