Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, on Friday received Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for the official flag-off of the distribution of 100 trucks of rice and ₦1.2 billion in palliative support to vulnerable households across the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The intervention, aimed at cushioning the impact of economic hardship, was launched in Kaduna amid assurances of the Federal Government’s commitment to social protection and inclusive development.
Governor Sani described the visit as a significant moment for the state and the region, noting that the exercise went beyond a ceremonial event to reflect “compassion translated into action.”
The governor said, “It was an immense honour receiving and hosting Her Excellency… for the official flag-off of the distribution,” adding that the initiative underscores a broader national effort to support vulnerable populations.
He used the occasion to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he termed purposeful leadership, stating that the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is steadily improving lives and restoring public confidence.
Sani also lauded the First Lady’s role in championing humanitarian interventions, saying her initiatives continue to cut across social and ethnic divides while restoring dignity to beneficiaries.
He further highlighted the collaboration between government offices and stakeholders, including the Muslim Intellectuals Forum and the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Political and Other Matters, led by Ibrahim Masari, as evidence of effective partnerships in delivering relief efforts.
The governor noted that Kaduna’s description as the “heartbeat of Northern Nigeria” reinforces its strategic importance in driving unity and development across the region.
He expressed appreciation for the First Lady’s recognition of the newly commissioned Brigadier Abba Kyari Banquet Hall as a hub for dialogue and development, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to policies that promote resilience, social cohesion, and sustainable growth.
The distribution exercise is expected to reach thousands of households across Northern Nigeria and the FCT, providing critical relief amid ongoing economic challenges.
