Tragedy struck in Abuja after prominent businessman and electronics merchant, Chief Godwin Chinedu Adimike, was allegedly killed by his son during a heated argument at their residence in Guzape area of the city.
The deceased, popularly known as Chief Lucky Adimike, hailed from Awka Etiti and was widely regarded as a major figure in Nigeria’s electronics and importation business, with strong influence at Alaba International Market.
Family and security sources said the incident occurred on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the businessman’s residence located at No. 3 Hassan Adamu Street, Guzape.
According to reports, the suspect, said to be a 21-year-old member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), allegedly stabbed his father multiple times following an argument over money and spending habits.
Sources close to the family disclosed that the son accused his father of being stingy and complained that some of his friends whose parents were less wealthy had been given cars and other luxuries.
The businessman, however, reportedly criticised his son for extravagant spending and mismanaging money, leading to a heated confrontation between both parties.
During the argument, the suspect allegedly attacked his father with a knife, inflicting multiple stab wounds that reportedly led to his death on the spot.
It was further gathered that the suspect had allegedly returned from a nightclub earlier that day in the company of two young women who were reportedly present when the incident occurred.
Police authorities are yet to release an official statement detailing the circumstances surrounding the case or confirming the motive behind the alleged killing.
However, sources confirmed that the suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
Chief Adimike was known as a successful businessman who built a vast business empire in the electronics and importation sector and was recognised as one of the leading merchants at Alaba International Market.
