President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Muslims across Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration, urging them to uphold the teachings and virtues of Prophet Muhammad.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, Tinubu said the celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet should go beyond festivities, urging Muslims to use the occasion for introspection, prayer and reflection on the Prophet’s exceptional virtues.
The President identified devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility, and selflessness as qualities Muslims and Nigerians could learn from the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad.
“The Muslim faithful should make a deliberate effort to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet,” he said.
Tinubu also called on Islamic religious leaders to use the occasion to pray for Nigeria and encourage their followers to translate the lessons of the Prophet’s life into greater commitment to the country.
He urged Muslims celebrating the Maulud festival to extend a hand of fellowship to the needy and vulnerable, stressing the importance of compassion and support for those in need.
The President further called for prayers against insecurity and other challenges affecting parts of the country, urging Nigerians to remain committed to peace, unity and national development.
