Mary Oyedokun, the widow of a secondary school teacher, late Micheal Oyedokun, who was beheaded by terrorists during an attack on Esinele in Oriire Local Government Area, has appealed to the government and security agencies to help recover her husband’s remains.
The widow made the emotional plea while receiving a delegation of state and zonal executives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), led by its state chairman, Revd Elisah Olukayode Ogundiya. The delegation was on a condolence visit to the family residence in Irewode.
Also present during the visit was the Diocesan Bishop of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́ Diocese, Rt. Revd David Moradeyo.
Mrs Oyedokun, speaking amid grief, said the recovery of her husband’s body would bring some closure to the family following the violent incident that has left the community in shock.
Community members in Esinele and surrounding areas of Oriire have continued to express concern over rising insecurity, urging authorities to strengthen protection in rural settlements and ensure that perpetrators of violent attacks are brought to justice.
Oriire Local Government Area is among several parts of the state that have experienced intermittent security challenges in recent times, prompting renewed calls for coordinated intervention from security agencies and local stakeholders.
