Former Communications Minister, Barr. Abdur-Raheem Adebayo Shittu, has described Judaism, Christianity and Islam as different stages of what he considers the same religious tradition.
Shittu expressed the view during an interview with PrimeStar News Online, while discussing religious disagreements between Muslims and Christians and the frequent attacks exchanged by adherents of both faiths, particularly on social media.
According to him, religious differences should not become a reason for hostility, urging adherents of both religions to acquire greater knowledge about their respective faiths.
Shittu criticised what he described as uninformed attacks on social media, saying people should read and acquire knowledge before making claims about another religion.
He urged Muslims and Christians to stop attacking one another and instead pursue greater understanding.
The former minister also linked religious disagreements to what he described as inadequate knowledge of religious teachings, arguing that people should study their faiths more deeply before engaging in public arguments about them.
