The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting law-abiding citizens and strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders to promote peace, security and national development across the country.
Disu made the pledge on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, led by its National President, Baba Othman Ngelzarma, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking during the meeting, the police chief acknowledged the significant contribution of the livestock sector to Nigeria’s economy and emphasised the importance of sustained cooperation between communities and security agencies in tackling security challenges.

He noted that lasting peace and security could only be achieved through mutual trust, constructive dialogue, respect for the rule of law and the timely sharing of credible information among relevant stakeholders.
The IGP also urged community leaders and other stakeholders to encourage peaceful coexistence and ensure that their members conduct their activities within the ambit of the law.
According to him, the Nigeria Police Force remains neutral and professional in carrying out its constitutional responsibilities and will continue to safeguard the rights of all citizens while ensuring that individuals involved in criminal activities face the full weight of the law.
Earlier, Ngelzarma congratulated Disu on his appointment as Inspector-General of Police and commended the Force for ongoing efforts aimed at improving professionalism, accountability and public confidence in policing.
The MACBAN president reaffirmed the association’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and pledged continued collaboration with security agencies to support national security and stability.
In response, Disu expressed appreciation for the visit and reiterated the readiness of the Nigeria Police Force to maintain engagement with stakeholders across various sectors to enhance public safety, strengthen community participation in policing and promote peaceful coexistence nationwide.
The police chief stressed that strategic partnerships with communities and relevant organisations remain critical to the Force’s broader objective of building a safer and more secure Nigeria.
