Suspected gunmen have reportedly launched an attack on an Operation Burst base situated inside a forest reserve along the Igbeti–Igboho axis in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, September 13, 2026, was said to have taken place between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
According to a security update from the Oorelope Local Government Command, the command received a distress call indicating that armed men had invaded the security base.

The command was said to have immediately mobilised its operatives to the area, with support from personnel of other security agencies.
However, by the time the security team arrived at the location, the attackers had reportedly fled.
Preliminary findings indicated that the gunmen, who were said to have arrived at the base in large numbers, opened fire on the security personnel with sophisticated weapons.
Details of possible casualties or the extent of damage to the facility were not immediately available as of the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Olorunsogo Local Government Area, Kazeem Olayanju, confirmed the incident when contacted.
Security agencies were said to be making efforts to obtain further details surrounding the attack and track down those responsible.
