The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has approved the promotion of 7,472 personnel comprising 2,134 officers and 5,338 marshals in a major career progression exercise aimed at rewarding merit, strengthening professionalism and enhancing the Corps’ operational capacity.
The promotion, according to the Corps, is part of its continuing commitment to human capital development and recognises the dedication, competence, discipline and years of service of personnel who have distinguished themselves in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The Corps said the elevation of the affected personnel goes beyond a change in rank, describing it as a renewed call to greater responsibility, higher standards and improved service to the Nigerian motoring public.
Under the new arrangement, Heads of Departments, Corps Officers, Heads of Special Units and Commanding Officers have been directed to decorate the newly promoted personnel under their respective commands from Wednesday, August 26, to Friday, August 28, 2026.
The decoration is to be conducted in accordance with the Administrative Instruction on the Decoration of Newly Promoted Officers and Marshals.
The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, mni, described the promotion as both a reward and a responsibility, stressing that every new rank must translate into higher professionalism, accountability, leadership and improved service delivery.
Mohammed said the strength of the FRSC was not measured only by its patrol vehicles, technology or enforcement architecture, but fundamentally by the quality, character and commitment of its personnel.
He congratulated the newly promoted officers and marshals, urging them to regard their elevation as a mandate to do more, lead better and serve with greater distinction.
The Corps Marshal reminded them that every additional stripe, pip or insignia represented increased expectations from the Corps, the Federal Government and the Nigerian people.
He further stressed the need for promotion within the FRSC to remain an instrument for building a professional, responsive and performance-driven institution capable of meeting the evolving demands of road safety management in Nigeria.
Mohammed urged the newly promoted personnel to justify the confidence reposed in them by maintaining discipline on and off the road, treating members of the public with dignity, upholding the integrity of the Corps and remaining committed to the pursuit of safer roads.
The promotion comes as the FRSC intensifies its operational, technological and public enlightenment interventions aimed at reducing road traffic crashes and improving compliance with traffic regulations nationwide.
The Corps said a motivated and professionally developed workforce remained central to sustaining these interventions and achieving measurable improvements in road safety outcomes.
It charged the newly promoted personnel to carry their new responsibilities with renewed purpose, emphasising that in the FRSC, rank is not merely worn but earned, entrusted and ultimately measured by service.
The Corps congratulated all the promoted officers and marshals and wished them success as they assume their new responsibilities in service to the nation.
