President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday, April 16, 2026, reiterated his administration’s commitment to building a stable, peaceful, and prosperous Nigeria, assuring citizens that their well-being remains the central focus of his government.
Speaking at the State House in Abuja while receiving a delegation of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors led by Hope Uzodimma, the President said ongoing political and economic reforms are aimed at dismantling long-standing structures that have hindered national prosperity.
According to him, the realignment of the economy is designed to enable broader participation and create opportunities, particularly for poor and vulnerable Nigerians.
President Tinubu pledged to sustain reforms that would expand economic inclusion, stressing that citizen participation is critical to shaping a better future for the country.
He told the ambassadors, “You represent the conscience of a nation that wants to break the shackles of poverty and hopelessness,” urging them to intensify grassroots mobilisation and sensitisation on government policies.
The meeting was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and several governors, including Mai Mala Buni, Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya, Nasir Idris, Francis Nwifuru, Sheriff Oborevwori, Ahmed Usman Ododo, Biodun Oyebanji, Hyacinth Alia, Agbu Kefas, Monday Okpebholo and Uba Sani.
Also present were prominent political figures, including former governors Aminu Bello Masari, Ifeanyi Okowa and Tanko Al-Makura, alongside former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim.
Reaffirming his commitment to democratic principles, the President stressed the importance of the rule of law, separation of powers and respect for the judiciary adding, “We cannot submit to disobedience of a lawful order of the court; we must embrace the judiciary, whether it favours us or not.”
Tinubu also urged Nigerians not to be swayed by what he described as misinformation from opposition elements, insisting that the country is on a path of steady progress under his leadership.
Responding to critics, the President expressed confidence in his administration’s direction, maintaining that difficult reforms are necessary for long-term national growth.
“There’s no other path for us to attain national greatness other than to build one common vision for the progress and prosperity of our people,” he added.
Earlier, Governor Uzodimma said the delegation visited to brief the President on the activities of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, noting that structures have been established across local governments and wards nationwide.
He said the group has commenced grassroots mobilisation, including data-driven enumeration at polling unit level and engagement with markets, schools, professional bodies and faith-based organisations.
In his remarks, former Katsina State governor, Aminu Bello Masari, praised the President’s courage in implementing reforms, describing him as a determined leader navigating inevitable early challenges.
Masari said political leaders in the North-West remain firmly supportive of the administration and would embark on tours of federal projects in the region to increase public awareness.
The APC National Chairman, Prof. Yilwatda, also commended the President for what he described as an ongoing infrastructural transformation driven by reform policies.
Other speakers at the meeting, including former Governor Okowa, Anyim, and Governors Uba Sani and Abiodun Oyebanji, delivered goodwill messages, expressing support for the administration’s agenda.
