President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has held talks with Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group in Paris, with the conglomerate confirming plans to deepen the localisation of its operations in Nigeria.
The meeting formed part of Tinubu’s working vacation in France, according to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The Bolloré Group, whose media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group, outlined plans for new investments focused on Nigeria’s film, entertainment, fibre-optic infrastructure and related sectors.
According to the statement, the group described Nigeria as the spearhead of Africa’s cultural renaissance, citing the global success of Nollywood and Afrobeats and growing international demand for Nigerian creative content.
Tinubu welcomed the decision to deepen the group’s operations in Nigeria, saying the country’s expanding global cultural influence presented an opportunity to attract more production, investment and jobs to the country.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to economic development and growth, with particular emphasis on job creation for young Nigerians and the expansion of digitalisation.
He said the government would continue to support investments capable of expanding Nigeria’s creative and digital economy, developing local talent and strengthening infrastructure.
Tinubu also said Nigeria could serve as a base for businesses seeking to operate across Africa and the wider global market.
According to the President, the Renewed Hope Agenda is focused on building an economy where Nigeria’s talent, enterprise and global cultural reach can translate into greater opportunities and improved livelihoods for Nigerians.
The meeting is part of the President’s engagements during his working vacation in Paris, where he has continued discussions with international business interests on investment opportunities in Nigeria.
