The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has rescued Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State, earlier this week.
The victims were freed during a coordinated operation carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department’s Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Adegoke and her children were kidnapped on June 3 while she was driving the twins to school in Ibadan at approximately 7:30 a.m.
According to the police, the rescue followed days of intensive intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical operations that enabled security operatives to track the movement of the kidnappers.
Police said the operation culminated in a confrontation between the suspects and FID-IRT operatives. During the exchange, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded, while two rifles were recovered from the scene.
The victims were rescued unharmed and have since been placed in safe custody, where they are receiving medical attention and other necessary support.
Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, praised the operatives involved in the mission, describing their actions as courageous, professional, and effective.
The police chief said the officers’ dedication and resilience played a crucial role in ensuring the safe return of the hostages.
Meanwhile, security agencies have intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who escaped during the operation.
Preliminary intelligence reports indicate that some of the fleeing suspects may have sustained gunshot wounds during the confrontation. Police said ongoing operations are focused on tracking down and arresting all individuals connected with the abduction.
The Nigeria Police Force also expressed appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation, patience, and support throughout the rescue operation, reaffirming its commitment to tackling violent crimes and safeguarding lives and property across the country.
