The Olubadan Palace has announced the passing of the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Olubunmi Isioye-Dada, who died peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2026, after a brief illness.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Ayoade Solomon Olugbemiga.
In honour of the late traditional ruler, the palace disclosed that the installation ceremony for Mogajis and Baales, initially scheduled for Monday, June 15, 2026, has been postponed. The event will now take place on Monday, June 22, 2026.
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, alongside members of the Olubadan-in-Council, extended their condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, as well as the people and residents of Ibadanland.
Oba Ladoja described the death of Oba Isioye-Dada as a significant loss to the ancient city, noting his invaluable contributions to the traditional institution and the development of Ibadanland.
Until his passing, Oba Olubunmi Isioye-Dada was a respected member of the Olubadan-in-Council, where he served diligently as the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland. His commitment to the council and service to the people earned him admiration and respect across the kingdom.
The palace said further announcements regarding funeral arrangements and other commemorative activities would be communicated in due course.
