The Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, His Royal Majesty Oba Francis Alao, has congratulated elder statesman, renowned politician and academic, Dr. Saka Balogun, on the occasion of his 90th birthday, describing his attainment of the nonagenarian age as a symbolic blessing and a testament to a life of integrity and selfless service.
In a congratulatory statement issued on Wednesday, the monarch joined members of Dr. Balogun’s family, friends and well-wishers in thanking God for preserving him to celebrate the milestone, while praying for continued good health and divine grace in the years ahead.
Oba Alao praised Dr. Balogun’s outstanding leadership, commitment to community development and contributions to public service, noting that his exemplary record earned him the prestigious traditional title of Balogun of Ogbomosoland as well as his position as Chairman of the Oyo State Elders’ Council.
The royal father described the celebrant as a distinguished politician, respected academic and community leader whose life of patriotism and humility continues to inspire younger generations of Nigerians.
According to the statement, Dr. Balogun has spent decades deploying his wisdom and experience in advancing the growth of his community, Oyo State and the nation.
“For your seven decades of adulthood, you grew among your people, enriching decision-making with your wisdom, serving your community, Oyo State and Nigeria at large with integrity. Your contributions to academics, community progress and national development are notable as you tread the path of uprightness and patriotism with humility,” the monarch said.
He added that younger Nigerian leaders have much to learn from Dr. Balogun’s enduring values and exemplary leadership.
“As you join the league of nonagenarians today, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you on behalf of Olori Olushola Adedoyin-Alao and the good people of Orile-Igbon. I pray for good health and abiding grace to navigate this new chapter in your life,” Oba Alao stated.
