A commercial motorcycle rider and his passenger identified as Nurat Ogundipe have been abducted in Ogun State.
They were said to be coming from from Ijio, Iwere Ile, an Oyo community which shared boundary with Ogun State on Monday, April 1, 2024, when they were reportedly abducted.
An eyewitness was said to have reported the incident to the Divisional Police Officer at Imeko in Imeko/Afon Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson for Ogun State Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday.
Odutola said that hunters, vigilantes, So Safe officers, officials of Amotekun Corps, forest guards as well as policemen are already combing the forest to rescue the victims.
The statement partly read, “A suspected case of kidnapping was reported through eye witnesses account to the Divisional Police Officer of Imeko Division.
“According to the report, one Nurat Ogundipe “f” who was on a commercial motorcycle was abducted along with the commercial motorcycle rider on April 1, 2024 at about 1500hrs, while returning from Ijio Iwere Ile a community in Oyo State that shares boundaries with Ogun State.
“Following the abduction, the DPO, in collaboration with hunters, forest guards, Vigilante, So Safe and Amotekun have been deployed to the forest on bush combing, to ensure the rescue and safety of the two persons kidnapped.
“The Commissioner of Police has been briefed and other security formations have been alerted. There is no cause for fear, as material resources and all external security measures have been activated to guarantee that the victims are released safely”.
Less than two weeks ago, one Oladapo Seyifunmi and Oluboboye Abiola were abducted at the Celestial Church of Christ, Oriyarin Parish, Mowe in Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area of the state,
While the police said that Seyifunmi had regained his freedom, Abiola is still in the den of the abductors.
Tunde Osifowokan, farm manager at Flourishing Poultry Farm, Idowa in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state was also abducted last month when some gunmen invaded the community.
