The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), in collaboration with operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has secured the release of 14 victims abducted by sea pirates along the Calabar–Oron waterways.
The victims were rescued following sustained intelligence-driven operations and coordinated tactical efforts aimed at dismantling criminal networks operating within the maritime corridor.
Security sources said the operation was the result of robust inter-agency collaboration, which enhanced surveillance and response capabilities in the affected areas.
Acting on credible intelligence, joint operatives intensified monitoring across identified flashpoints along the waterways, leading to a targeted crackdown on suspected pirate activities. The efforts culminated in the successful rescue of all 14 victims without injury.
Authorities confirmed that the rescued individuals are currently undergoing medical evaluation and debriefing. They are expected to be reunited with their families after the completion of necessary procedures.
The operation highlights ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat maritime crime and ensure the safety of waterways in southern Nigeria.
