The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has commenced the sitting of its Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) to review pending disciplinary cases involving 167 senior officers accused of professional misconduct and related offences.
The proceedings, currently taking place at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, form part of ongoing efforts by the police leadership to reinforce internal accountability, enforce discipline, and uphold professional standards within the Force.
The FDC, a critical internal oversight body, is tasked with reviewing and determining cases concerning officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above.
The committee ensures that all matters are handled with thoroughness, transparency, and fairness, in line with existing laws and regulations, before making appropriate recommendations to the Police Service Commission.
Speaking on the development, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to discipline, integrity, and professionalism. He stressed that any officer found guilty of misconduct would face due process without exception.
According to the IGP, the disciplinary exercise is part of broader institutional reforms aimed at strengthening internal control mechanisms, promoting ethical conduct, and restoring public confidence in policing.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its resolve to maintain the highest standards of accountability and service, emphasising that officers are expected to uphold the core values of the profession at all times.
