The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has identified two suspected cases of Ebola disease in Nigeria’s North-East region, with both individuals isolated as laboratory tests are being conducted.
The agency disclosed that contact identification and listing were also ongoing as part of efforts to investigate the suspected cases and monitor possible exposure.
However, the NCDC clarified that the identification of the two individuals as suspected cases does not mean they have tested positive for Ebola, stressing that confirmation depends on the outcome of laboratory investigations.
The agency urged members of the public to maintain good hand hygiene, practise enhanced sanitation and comply with guidance issued by public health authorities.
It assured that further updates would be provided as verified information becomes available.
