Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved about N4.6 billion to settle outstanding compensation claims by residents affected by Phase 1 of the 110-kilometre Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road project in Ibadan.
Makinde disclosed this after meeting with some affected residents on Friday, explaining that they were left out of the initial compensation exercise conducted after the first round of verification and property valuation.
The governor said the approved sum would cover outstanding payments to those affected by the first phase of the project.
He also promised that residents whose properties would be affected by Phase 2 of the project would receive compensation before the end of 2026.
Makinde further reiterated his administration’s plan to reduce the number of residents affected by the project in densely populated areas.
According to him, such areas would be fenced off at the 75-metre corridor mark to limit the impact of the road construction on surrounding communities.
The governor said the measure had been discussed at a previous meeting with affected residents.
The Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road is a 110-kilometre project designed to improve road connectivity and infrastructure development in Ibadan and its surrounding areas.
