Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has urged EgyptAir to deploy newer aircraft on its routes to Nigeria, particularly its operations to Abuja and Lagos.
Keyamo made the request during a bilateral meeting with Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, Dr. Sameh El-Hefny, on the sidelines of the ongoing El Alamein International Airshow in Al Alamein, Egypt.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Nigeria and Egypt in the air transport sector and exploring areas of mutual interest that could contribute to the growth and development of civil aviation in both countries.
A major outcome of the discussions was Keyamo’s request that EgyptAir upgrade the aircraft deployed on its Nigerian routes, covering both Abuja and Lagos operations.
The Nigerian minister also disclosed that both countries agreed to review their ,to ensure that it reflects current realities in the aviation sector and provides a stronger framework for cooperation.
The meeting formed part of Nigeria’s broader efforts to deepen international aviation partnerships and improve the quality and efficiency of air transport services available to Nigerian travellers.
Keyamo’s engagement with his Egyptian counterpart is expected to further strengthen aviation ties between the two countries while creating opportunities for enhanced cooperation in the sector.
