The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde on Thursday, December 14, 2023, presented a staff of office to the newly installed Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola Adeyeri III, Ajirotutu I, the 30th king of the ancient town.
The presentation of the staff of the office to the monarch came four months after Oba Sefiu was picked by the 10 kingmakers from the town.
Makinde made the presentation of the staff of the office to the monarch despite a pending case in the Oyo State High court, Iseyin, challenging the selection of Oba Adeyeri is still pending before an Oyo State High Court, sitting in Iseyin.
A legal practitioner, Abideen Adeniran, who faulted the exercise the interest of justice, peace and good governance, noted that the government should be conscious of the pendency of suit no: HOI/04/2023 before the Court, sitting in Iseyin, over the contest for the stool of the ancient town.
Speaking, Makinde pointed out that developing Iseyin town more is his major concern, adding that the town had great potential for growth and development.
His words, “Iseyin is a town with great potential, and I am committed to working with the people of Iseyin to harness this potential for the benefit of all. Education and youth empowerment are the foundation of a prosperous future for Iseyin. With the right investment in these areas, we can ensure that our young people have the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.”
He added that his administration would work on several initiatives to promote education and youth empowerment in the town, assuring of attracting investment to Iseyin, with a focus on the agricultural sector.
Responding, the new monarch who said that the moment was significant for him and the Iseyin people in general expressed gratitude to the governor.
Promising to work hard to live up to the expectations of his people, promote peace and unity, and foster economic development, the Aseyin stated, “I am deeply grateful to Governor Makinde for his support, and for the confidence he has shown in me by presenting me with the staff of office. I am committed to working with the governor to promote the development of our town. As Aseyin of Iseyin, I will ensure that the people of Iseyin are proud of their heritage and that they continue to uphold the values and traditions that make our town unique.”
Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola-Adeyeri Ill was born on April 6, 1969, to the family of Prince Kareem Oladejo Oyebola and Princess Afusat Olabisi Oyebola of Eyinade Royal Compound of Akando, a royal lineage of Aseyin of Iseyinland.
