Amid a wave of goodwill messages from members of the University of Ibadan community and other stakeholders following the appointment of Professor Peter Olamakinde Olapegba as the institution’s 14th Vice-Chancellor, three fellow contestants in the selection process have congratulated him on his emergence.
The contestants – Professor Ebenezer Farombi of the Department of Biochemistry, Professor Adeyinka Abideen Aderinto of the Department of Sociology and Professor Adebola Ekanola of the Department of Philosophy – were among the distinguished academics who reached the final stage of the vice-chancellorship selection exercise.
In separate congratulatory messages, the Professors wished Olapegba a successful and impactful tenure as the 14th Vice-Chancellor of Nigeria’s premier university.
They prayed for wisdom, strength and divine guidance for the Vice-Chancellor-designate as he prepares to assume leadership of the institution, expressing confidence in his ability to advance the University’s tradition of excellence in teaching, research and community service.
Professor Olapegba emerged as the successful candidate following a competitive selection process conducted by the University’s Governing Council and is to assume office as the University’s 14th substantive Vice-Chancellor.
