Gbenro Adesina
Renowned Political Scientist and former head of the Department of Political Science, University of Ibadan, Professor Alex Gboyega is dead.
He died today in Ibadan capital of Oyo State at the age of 76.
Born in Ogbomoso on September 21 1946, he attended Dzodze Teachers’ Training College, 1963-67, University of Ghana, 1966-72, University of Ibadan, 1973-75.
Professor Gboyega specialized in Public Administration. Local governance and indigenous political institutions. He was a consultant to the World Bank DFID. UNDP,USAID and several local institutions. He was also a Consultant to NERAD – Nigeria for the African Peer Review Process in which capacity he participated in preparing the country’s Self-Assessment Report and related activities leading to Nigeria’s review.
He was a co-founder of Babs Fafunwa Centre for Yoruba Language Engineering.
