The Inspector-General of Police, Olatuji Rilwan Disu, on Thursday, April 21, 2026, received the Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Binta Adamu Bello, during a courtesy visit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The meeting featured a high-level NAPTIP delegation, including Special Adviser to the DG, Hassan Tahir; Director of ICT, Hakeem Lawal; Director of Finance and Administration, Mohammed Tamim; Director of Investigation, Aondona Ortese; Director of Violence Against Persons and Human Development, Emuesiriere Rebecca; and Director of Legal and Prosecution, Nneka A. During the engagement, Bello congratulated the IGP on his leadership and commended the Nigeria Police Force for its continued support to the agency.
She called for deeper collaboration, particularly in technical assistance and joint operational frameworks, to enhance NAPTIP’s capacity to tackle its expanding responsibilities.
In his response, Disu reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to supporting NAPTIP’s mandate, pledging the deployment of the Force’s operational and intelligence resources to combat human trafficking and related crimes.
The IGP emphasised a strategic shift toward intelligence-driven policing, highlighting plans for enhanced joint operations, the deployment of liaison officers, and real-time intelligence sharing to dismantle organised crime networks.
He also assured technical support from the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre, alongside capacity-building programmes and specialized training for NAPTIP personnel within police institutions.
Disu further disclosed that regular strategic briefings would be institutionalised to track progress and sustain collaboration between both agencies.
He stressed that the strengthened partnership signals a firm zero-tolerance stance against human trafficking, vowing that perpetrators would find no safe haven within Nigeria.
