The Nigeria Police Force has appointed Ayodele Sonubi as the Oyo State Police Commissioner.
Sonubi, who assumed duty today, sought the collaboration of stakeholders across the state to curb crimes and criminality in the state, assuring residents of the state of the police command’s commitment to ensuring the security of lives and property.
Speaking during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, Sonubi promised to build on the achievements of his predecessor, noting that his administration would prioritize community policing and engagement.
Sonubi, a seasoned police officer with years of experience solicited the support and cooperation of the public in achieving his goals.
He emphasised the importance of timely information sharing and collaboration between the police and the community, stressing that security is a collective responsibility.
The new commissioner also announced plans to strengthen the command’s intelligence-gathering capabilities and improve response times to distress calls.
He assured that his team would work tirelessly to address the concerns of residents, including the rising cases of armed robbery, kidnapping, and cultism in some parts of the state.
He, however, said he is optimistic that his leadership would bring a new era of peace and security to Oyo State.
Sonubi before his new rank as Commissioner of Police, was the erstwhile Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku.
