The Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation (SSACO) has accused the All Progressives Movement (APM) governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, of expressing frustration over what it described as a superior development plan unveiled by the senator for Oyo State.
The organisation said Adekanmbi’s criticism of Alli’s manifesto, known as Oyo AHEAD, was an attempt to defend Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration despite what it described as its failures in grassroots development, healthcare, education, agriculture and youth development.
In a statement on Wednesday, SSACO’s Director of Media and Publicity, Bisi Oladele, said Adekanmbi’s position reflected desperation to sustain the current administration’s political narrative ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The organisation maintained that Oyo AHEAD was designed to address the developmental challenges allegedly neglected by the Makinde-led government in its seven years in office.
It cited what it described as the growing number of out-of-school children in the state, inadequate medical personnel in public hospitals, inactive farm settlements and poor performance in youth development as evidence of the administration’s shortcomings.
“It is understandable that a government that paralyses local government system, wobbles in healthcare delivery, education, agriculture and youth development will naturally be pained that Senator Sharafadeen Alli is launching a plan to salvage the state where it has failed woefully,” the statement said.
SSACO also questioned Adekanmbi’s argument that Alli’s proposed policies lacked originality because similar initiatives had been announced by previous administrations.
“Is it not intellectually disingenuous to describe policies as not original simply because previous governments had announced similar initiatives? When did healthcare, education, employment, workers’ welfare and economic development cease being priorities?” it asked.
The campaign organisation further argued that Alli’s political experience, public service record and connection with the people gave him an advantage in delivering on his campaign promises.
It highlighted his previous positions as Secretary to the Oyo State Government and Chief of Staff under former Governor Rashidi Ladoja, as well as his representation of Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
According to SSACO, Alli’s experience in public administration and legislative service, alongside his grassroots political engagements, had prepared him to provide purposeful leadership and effective governance across the state.
The organisation described Oyo AHEAD as a practical development blueprint that identifies the state’s challenges, proposes solutions and establishes measurable targets.
It also challenged Adekanmbi to explain why the poor condition of existing primary healthcare centres should prevent a future administration from establishing better-equipped, adequately staffed and properly funded facilities across communities and local governments.
Questioning the state’s performance in the education sector, SSACO asked why Oyo State ranked 27th in the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) performance assessment if the current administration had been implementing effective educational policies.
It equally questioned the state of public hospitals and the inability of local governments to adequately address the developmental needs of their communities.
“Oyo AHEAD has solutions to all these. And that is why Adekanmbi is pained,” the organisation said.
SSACO urged voters to support Alli, describing him as a familiar political figure with the experience, credibility and grassroots acceptance required to lead the state.
