Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, the candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) won the Ogbomosho North, Ogbomosho South, Orire Federal Constituency election.

According to the Returning Officer for Ogbomosho Federal Constituency of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Hakeem Olanrenwaju Salami, Olamijuwonlo, the son of the former governor of Oyo State, late Adebayo Alao-Akala, scored 33,268 votes to beat the Peoples Democratic Party Candidate, Olufemi Onireti who scored 27, 126 votes.

To the effect, Salami said, “I declared Olamijuwonlo Akala winner of Ogbomosho/North/South/Orire Federal Constituency having polled the total number of 33.268 votes while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Olufemi Onireti polled 27, 126 votes.”

Also, the son of the immediate past Alaafin of Oyo, late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Honourable Akeem Adeyemi popularly called, Skimeh of the All Progressive Congress (APC), was declared the winner of the Atiba, Oyo East, Oyo West Federal Constituency Election held yesterday.

INEC declared Akeem Adeyemi of the APC scored 34,822 to beat his closest opponent, Mudashiru Kamil Akinlabi of the PDP who scored 31,671.

Najeemdeen Oyeshina Oyedeji, popularly called, ‘O’Shine’, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency.

Oyedeji scored a total votes of 30,372 to beat the candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr.(Engr) Soliu Abu Gbadamosi who scored 28,821 votes.

The Returning Officer of the election, Professor Adeolu Adeleke declared Oyedeji a certified winners and declared returned

Also, Dr Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, known as “Ibarapa Kan” candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has been declared winner of the Ibarapa North, Ibarapa Central Federal Constituency Election.

Adepoju defeated the serving lawmaker representing the constituency, Hon Muraina Ajibola.

Announcing the result, the INEC Returning Officer, said the former Chairman of the Oyo state Water Corporation polled 12,884 to defeat other candidates.

Furthermore, the APC candidate for Atisbo, Saki East, Saki West federal constituency, Olajide Olatunbosun was declared the winner of the House of Representatives poll for the constituency.

Out of the 207,695 registered voters in the constituency, Olatunbosun won Saturday’s poll with 27,115 votes to beat the PDP candidate, Adeagbo Fasasi, who polled 24,139.

Olatunbosun, a serving member of the House is returned for the second term.

INEC also declared the APC candidate, Engr Aderemi Oseni, the winner of Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in Saturday’s National Assembly race.

However, the INEC has declared the 2023 Oluyole House of Representatives election has been declared inconclusive which was as a result of violence; destruction of ballot papers in eight polling units; and the difference between the margin of winners in Oluyole, which affected the outcome of the result of election in the constituency.

The returning officer who declared the result inconclusive in Idi-Ayunre, headquarters of Oluyole Local Government on Sunday said the difference in the results between the incumbent, Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe of the APC and PDP candidate,  Abdulmojeed Olawale Mogbonjubola, was not up to the number of registered voters in the canceled eight polling units.

According to him, “The APC candidate polled 9, 849 while the APC polled 9, 028 leaving just 821 votes difference whereas the number of PVC collected in the canceled polling units of Oluyole Federal Constituency is more than the difference”

He said the total PVCs collected in the affected 8 Units are 6,537. This also affects the Oyo Central Senatorial District result.
