The All Progressives Congress (APC) has produced its governorship candidates for the three South-West states participating in the 2027 gubernatorial elections following the conclusion of party primaries in Lagos, Oyo and Ogun states.
In Lagos State, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat emerged as the party’s flagbearer with 657,917 votes. Hamzat, who reportedly enjoyed the backing of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, defeated Lanre Jim-Kamal, who polled one vote.
In Oyo State, Senator Sarafadeen Alli secured the APC governorship ticket with 578,143 votes. He defeated Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, who garnered 37,265 votes.
The immediate past Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, came third in the primary with 19,193 votes.
In Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola emerged victorious with 304,055 votes to clinch the party’s governorship ticket. He defeated Abayomi Hunye.
The emergence of the candidates sets the stage for intensified political activities in the South-West ahead of the 2027 general elections.
