Ahead of Thursday January 14, 2021, Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in Uganda, the country has been enmeshed in series of political crises, which is already threatening the credibility of the elections.

Contesting the presidential election is the 76 years old incumbent President, Yoweri Museveni of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), who has been ruling the country since 1986 and 38 years old Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine of  National Unity Platform (NUP).

Currently trending is the assaults that Barbara Itungo, wife of Robert Kyagulanyi suffered in the hands of the men and women of Uganda Police Force, who beat, tortured and stripped her before effecting her arrest today.

She was beaten in the presence of her child, who had to fight the ruthless police personnel for beaten his Mother and was repeatedly shouting, “Leave my mummy!”.

In the video clip, a female police personnel championed the assault on the wife of the nation’s foremost politician and continually hitting her on the head.

The helpless woman in red pant courageously fought back and repeatedly told the police, “You can’t torture me”, while being pinned on the ground.

However, reactions have been trailing the ugly incident as some Africans have called on the international community to intervene before the situation degenerates to what can not be managed.

Many notable individuals, who have condemned the happenings in Uganda, further condemned both United Nations (UN) and African Union (AF), for folding their arms to watch the ugly and deadly situation unfolding in Uganda.

Former Governor of Imo State in Nigeria and Vice Presidential Aspirant, Peter Obi specifically condemned the assault on the woman as well as blaming United Nation for being careless about African continent.

He said, “And @UN have been seeing all these and keeping quiet. What is even the need of separating fight when you can’t prevent it. Why can’t the so called United Nations step in now that is still early to stop this tyrant of a president? How can you be treating your citizens like this?”

Iniobong Ugochukwu @zhuxhu said, “African youths should stand up against dictators like Museveni. Be it in Nigeria or Algeria, Uganda or Rwanda, Eritrea or Somalia, Guinea or Guinea Bissau..anywhere in Africa.. We need to say enough is enough. GOVERNMENT BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE and not some 70-80 year olds”.
Becca said, “You are not wrong. But most of these dictators have weapons and access to resources. They they are ruthless willing to slaughter anyone in their way. The youth Love their lives”.
Angry Youth in Nigeria said, ” My heart breaks for this. Whatever this is, whether it’s fake news or not, this should not happen among humans. This is deep wickedness and it’s so sad the story is always revolving around the police”.
PM_Chima@Paulmary_Chima says, “I think something is fundamentally wrong with the African nation who has bewitched us. The wicked want to always remain in seat and will do anything to frustrate their opponents . May God disgrace them and Africa gain her freedom”.
FOCUS 2023 PROJECT says, “All African countries must unite to remove dictatorship in their various country. Join @2023Ng as we join forces to remove dictatorship in Nigeria also. Check our profile to read pinned tweet #WeAreRemovingADictator This woman must get Justice!”

Paige Turner says, “There are devils among us , disguised as human beings, willing to disrespect and dominate, they are called Police! Doing this to a mother, in front of a child is The epitome of Fcuking evil!!”

Ogoh Samuel said “A dictator rules successfully only when his subjects are dictators at heart. In Africa ,we think only about today and not tomorrow yet no one lives forever. Money and power….we chase daily yet they will outlive us”.

Ezekiel Chidiebere said, “This is a cruel act and an abuse by those that are supposed to protect the citizens. Ño matter what this woman’s offense are these police officers are wicked and unprofessional by this video is evident.because we can see that the woman never resisted arrest but is willingly”

D. A. Ogoma said, “Such a shame. Ugandans really need to draw a line in the sand… a whole nation can’t just sleep through such humiliating atrocities when a small kid has the voice to tell a brutal regime to leave his mommy. Wake up Kampala!”.
Aljazeera had reported that the run-up to tomorrow’s vote has been marred by restrictions on campaigning, arrests of opposition figures and deadly violence. At least 54 people were killed in November 2020 as security forces put down protests by opposition supporters.
