The Appointments and Promotions Committee for academic staff of the University of Ibadan (UI) has promoted 32 lecturers to the rank of full professors and 27 lecturers to the rank of Reader, otherwise known as Associate Professor.
The promotions were approved at the meeting of the committee held on Thursday, June 6, 2024.

Among the new professors is Dr. Olubukola A. Adesina of the College of Medicine, the wife of the institution’s former Vice Chancellor and a former minister of Health under the Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration, Professor Isaac Adewole, whose promotion was backdated to 2019. The couple, who are alumni of UI, specialise in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
Also, Dr. Olayemi Jumoke Abiodun-Oyebanji of the Department of Educational Management, Faculty of Education, the wife of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji of Ekiti State, was promoted from the rank of Senior Lecturer to Reader.
