The University of Ibadan (UI), has released the list of 23 academic staff promoted to the position of full professor, with Dr Olulola Oladipo of the Anatomy’s promotion from a Reader to Professor taking effect from 2017, and that of Dr Ademola Lewis of the Department of Linguistics and African Studies being promoted from of Senior Lecturer to professor takes effect from 2020.
According to a Special Release, 4884, dated March 11, 2024, the Appointment and Promotion Committee for Academic Staff announced the promotion after its meeting held on Wednesday 26, and Thursday 27, February 2025.
Those that their promotion to full professor takes effect from 2021 are Dr Ayodeji M. Adebayo of the Department of Community Medicine, Dr S. O. Akande, School of Media and Technology, Dr J. O. Odelola of the Department of Health Education, and Dr O. A. Fagbohun of the Department of Veterinary Medicine.
Faces of some newly promoted Professors
Dr Sarafat Ayanfunke Tijani of the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Dr J. O. Akinyemi of the Department of Epidemiology and Medical Statistics, Dr Adedoyin A. Aguoru of the Department of English, Dr S. M. Mepaiyeda of the Department of Religious Studies, and Dr C. G. Udomboso of the Department of Statistics, have their promotion taking effect from 2022.
Those that their professorship take effect from 2023 are Dr. T. E. Omoniyi of the Department of Wood Products Engineering, Dr. O. O. Ayandipo of the Department of Surgery, Dr W. O. Ajagbe of the Department of Civil Engineering, Dr Patricia A. Taiwo of the Department of Sociology, Dr Bukola C. Adebayo-Tayo of the Department of Microbiology, Dr O. T. Yekinni, Dr B. R. Olajide, Dr K. A. Thomas, the trio of the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Dr M. Enioluwafe of the Department of Mathematics, and Dr Oluwayemisi O. Alaba of the Department of Statistics.
The promotion of Dr Mobolaji O. Omobowale of the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering and Dr S.K. Fasogbon of the Department of Mechanical Engineering to full professor take effect from 2024.
The two individuals promoted from Senior Lecturer to Readers, taking effect from 2019 are Dr Rose E. Ilesanmi of the Nursing Department and Dr A. A. Adetoyinbo of the Department of Physics.
