President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors-designate and high commissioners to various countries and international missions, including the United Nations.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

According to the statement, the list comprises 31 non-career ambassadors and 34 career diplomats who have now been assigned to their respective duty posts.

The envoys were earlier confirmed by the Nigerian Senate in December 2025 after undergoing screening by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Onanuga said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Nigeria) has been directed to immediately commence an induction programme for the envoys ahead of their deployment.

He explained that the ambassadors would formally assume their diplomatic duties after receiving agrément — the official approval from their host countries.

The presidential aide added that agrément had already been granted by the United Kingdom for High Commissioner-designate Aminu Dalhatu and by France for Ambassador Ayodele Oke.

Meanwhile, nominations of the remaining 62 envoys have been forwarded to their respective host countries and are awaiting approval.
