The two prime suspects in the killing of Sofia Pelumi, a fashion design apprentice, Balogun Mustakeem and Majekodunmi Soliudeen have exonerated Wariz Oladeinde and Lukman Abdulgarfar from involvement in the dastardly act, stressing that they did not conspire with them to kill the deceased.
The suspects said this while confessing to the newsmen at Ogun State Police Command, Elewe-Eran, Abeokuta, where they were paraded.
Mustakeem stated, “These other two (Wariz and Abdulgarfar) are not involved. They did not know anything about it. But they had cooking spot (Aro) where we can burn the head and that was why we went to Abdulgarfar’s house to burn the head. They were not part of the conspiracy at all.”
Speaking, Mustakeem said that he conspired with Abudulgarfar to kill Sofia and use her head for money ritual.
Mustakeem, a son of a popular Muslim clergyman in Abeokuta, revealed that Sofia was his ex-girl friend, adding that after parting ways with the girl, his friend, Abdulgarfar signified interest to date her and he obliged him Sofia’s phone number.
His words, “We are from Ifo but my father is living in Abeokuta. We are living in Bode Olude. I went to see my friend at Oke Aregba. I was dating a girl called Sofia since last year but we were no longer dating. Sofia’s parents don’t know me but her elder brother knows me. I transferred Sofia to my friend. I gave him her number to call him. I consented for him dating her. He called me to tell me that he had called Sofia in the morning and they had talked. He said she was with him in the evening. They had sex that day. That was last year. I was surprised that within a short time they met, they had started having sex together.”
“Two weeks ago, we started planning to kill her and use her for money ritual. We learnt how to do money ritual on Facebook platform. The owner of the platform wrote, “Asiri awon Ogun Oso to daju”. I screened shot it. I normally stay with Abudulgarfar Friday to Sunday. After Abudulgarfar had bought pot, three eggs, alligator pepper, Sefunsefun leave and other ingredients needed for the ritual, we called her. He had sex with her that day. After sex, he came to meet me outside and encouraged me to be strong for what we wanted to do. He held her down and I cut her head with knife. While I was cutting the head with a knife, Abdulgarfar helped me to twist the head and we used cutlass to finally cut the head. I felt bad about this and now I know that I shouldn’t have done it. These other two are not involved, they did not know anything about it. But they had cooking spot that we can use to do what we want to do and that was why we went to them to burn the head there”, he added.
Corroborating his partner in the dastardly act, Soliudeen said that Mustakeem muted the idea of making money ritual, which he agreed with.
According to him, “We both contributed money to buy all the things that we needed for the ritual”, adding, “I regret ever doing that and when next I come back to this world, I will never do such a thing”.
