The Oyo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for suspected kidnappers who abducted three staff members of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN), Idi Ayunre, Ibadan.
The victims were reportedly seized while inspecting crops on a farm within the institute’s premises, raising concerns over the security of workers carrying out routine agricultural research activities.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident in a statement made available to journalists on Friday.
According to Ayanlade, the command has commenced efforts to track down the perpetrators and secure the release of the abducted workers.
He said security operatives were working to rescue the victims, adding that the police were committed to ensuring their safe return.
The police spokesperson reassured members of the public of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, while urging confidence in ongoing efforts to apprehend those responsible for the abduction.
However, details surrounding the incident, including the identities of the victims and whether the abductors had made any ransom demands, were not disclosed in the statement.
