The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the promotion of 17,952 junior police officers across different ranks in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) as part of efforts to boost personnel welfare, morale, and professionalism within the Force.
According to a statement issued and signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the promotion exercise cuts across Commands and Formations nationwide and is aimed at rewarding diligence, dedication, and outstanding service among officers.
The breakdown of the promotions shows that 165 Sergeants were elevated to the rank of Inspector, 73 Corporals promoted to the rank of Sergeant, while 17,714 Constables advanced to the rank of Corporal.
IGP Disu said the timely promotion of officers remains a critical component of the Force’s human resource management strategy and an important tool for motivating personnel in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.
He noted that the elevation of deserving officers reflects the commitment of the current police leadership to merit, career progression, and institutional development.
The police boss congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to see their promotion as a call to greater responsibility, professionalism, discipline, and dedication to service.
He further charged them to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force by carrying out their duties with integrity, respect for human rights, and commitment to the rule of law.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting excellence, rewarding hard work, and strengthening institutional capacity in line with global best practices in policing,” the statement added.
