The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oyo State will commence the distribution and collection of 77,015 newly printed Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) across the state on Friday, October 9, 2026.
The exercise, which is expected to run for seven days, will take place from Friday, October 9, to Thursday, October 15, 2026, across the 351 Registration Areas/Wards in the state.
The exercise is part of the Commission’s preparations towards the conduct of the 2027 General Elections.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Oyo State, Prof. Adeniran Rahmon Tella, disclosed this in a media release, stating that the distribution would be conducted daily between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., including weekends.
According to him, the exercise will not only involve the distribution of the newly printed PVCs but will also provide an opportunity for eligible voters to collect old PVCs that were previously printed but remained unclaimed ahead of the 2023 General Elections.
Tella urged members of the public to disregard recent information circulating online suggesting that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise is still ongoing.
He clarified that the CVR exercise had already closed on July 26, 2026.
The REC therefore urged eligible voters and other stakeholders in the state to take advantage of the seven-day distribution exercise at their respective Registration Areas.
He explained that after the expiration of the seven-day exercise at the Registration Areas/Wards, the distribution and collection of PVCs would continue at the 33 INEC Local Government Area offices across Oyo State.
He added that the collection of PVCs at the local government level would also take place between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily.
Tella explained that the exercise was specifically targeted at newly registered voters, persons who had lost their PVCs, voters who had requested transfers from one polling unit to another, as well as those whose PVCs were damaged or defaced during the last CVR exercise.
He assured voters that the 77,015 PVCs being distributed constitute only the first batch, adding that the Commission is expecting additional batches of newly printed PVCs for the state.
The REC called on eligible voters to make proper use of the opportunity to collect their cards ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
