The police command in Ondo says it has found the decapitated body of Gbenga Olofinmoyegun, a director at the Ondo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), who was declared missing on Thursday.
Funmilayo Odunlami, police spokesperson in Ondo, confirmed the development to NAN on Sunday.
The police spokesperson said Olofinmoyegun’s decomposing body was found on Saturday, with some organs removed.
Odunlami, however, said the circumstances surrounding the killing of the director were not yet clear.
“Yesterday afternoon, somebody called to inform us that a decomposing corpse was found in the St. Theresa area, close to St. Peter in Akure,” the police spokesperson said.
“When the police got there to remove the corpse, some people came around and identified him as the director we have been searching for in the past three days.
“It was his suit they used to identify him, but his head had been cut off and his chest ripped open, while his intestine was removed. Investigation has started. His phone was left behind and some other things too.
“So, we are going to work with what we have to know if he had issues with anybody and maybe it’s a ritual case.
