Hours after handing over to his successor, Prof. Charles Soludo, the immediate past Governor of Anambra state, Willie Obiano has been arrested by the Economic and Financial crimes commission (EFCC) at the Lagos airport at about 8 pm, while he was trying to leave Nigeria to Houston Texas in the USA.
Details of the arrest are currently sketchy but unconfirmed sources claimed it is connected to financial impropriety while in office.
It was gathered that on sighting him around 8 pm, immigration officers were said to have alerted the EFCC who immediately arrested him and took him to their office.
Earlier at the inauguration ceremony of the new Governor, Prof Soludo, there was an embarrassing fight involving the wife of Obiano and Bianca Ojukwu, former Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain.
