Mrs. Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, a younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her two children who were abducted in Ibadan earlier this week, have regained their freedom.
PrimeStar News gathered on Friday night that Mrs. John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons were rescued after days in captivity.
The victims were kidnapped on Tuesday morning at Elewura area of Challenge in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Sources said the armed kidnappers had allegedly trailed the family from their residence before intercepting their vehicle around 7:30 a.m. and forcefully taking them away.
Details surrounding their rescue were still sketchy as of the time of filing this report, while security agencies were yet to issue an official statement on the development.
The incident had heightened concerns over the growing wave of kidnappings and violent crimes in parts of Oyo State.
The abduction came months after a prominent chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Wale Oriade, was kidnapped in Ibadan.
Oriade was reportedly abducted in December 2025 at his office located within PJ Square Shopping Complex near the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) station at Elewure along Iyana Ajanla, Akala Expressway, New Garage, Ibadan.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived in a blue Nissan Micra vehicle carrying two occupants — a driver and an armed accomplice — before seizing Oriade and whisking him away.
Residents had described the operation as highly coordinated, raising concerns about the sophistication of criminal gangs operating in the state.
The latest rescue is expected to bring relief to family members and associates of the victims, while renewing calls for stronger security measures to curb kidnapping and other violent crimes across Oyo State.
