The prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were abducted in Imo State have been released.
The development was confirmed by the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, during a telephone conversation with the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
According to a statement signed by Adeola Oloko, Media Aide to the Olubadan, Governor Uzodinma confirmed the release at about 5:00 p.m.
The statement, however, did not disclose the circumstances surrounding the release of the prospective corps members, including whether any ransom was paid or whether security agencies were involved in securing their freedom.
The abducted youths were prospective NYSC members who were reportedly travelling to the state for the mandatory national service programme.
The confirmation of their release is expected to bring relief to their families and other concerned stakeholders who had been following developments surrounding their abduction.
Further details on the incident were not immediately available as of the time of filing this report.
