The Minister of Youth and Sports Development in Nigeria, Sunday Dare, has condemned the dreaded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a unit of the Nigeria Police Force over the reckless killings and attacks of youth.
Dare was reacting to the recent killing of a young man by SARS in front of Wetland Hotel, Ughelli in Delta State.
According to a statement obtained on the Twitter page of the Ministry of Youth and Sport Development, Dare stated, “The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development is worried about the increasing menace and increasing harassments and attacks by SARS especially targeted at the Youth and other innocent members of the public”.
Calling for immediate investigations that would unravel the truth about the murder of the young man, the Minister said the Ministry has monitored some of the attacks by SARS and brought it to the attention of the relevant security agencies in Abuja.
“The Ministry wishes to assure that this government through relevant security agencies will step into the matter to protect our youth and the fundament human rights of every Nigerian”, he concluded.
