The Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, describing his passing as a great loss to the Yoruba race and Nigeria.
The council, in a condolence statement dated October 21, 2026, said the late elder statesman and former leader of Afenifere would be remembered for his humane nature, amiable disposition and unwavering commitment to the Yoruba cause.
The statement, signed by the Secretary-General of the council, Chief Oladipo Oyewole, on behalf of its President, Chief Jibade Oyekan, and the entire membership, described Fasoranti as a revered elder, distinguished statesman and exemplary leader.
The council noted that the wisdom the late Fasoranti shared with those who had the privilege of knowing him would be greatly missed.
It, however, said his life of service, exemplary leadership and dedication to human advancement would remain an enduring source of inspiration.
“While we mourn his departure, we give thanks for a life well spent and for the invaluable legacy he is leaving behind,” the statement said.
The YCE added that Fasoranti’s death was a significant loss not only to his immediate family and Afenifere but also to the country.
The council prayed that Almighty God would grant his family, associates and others affected by his death the strength to bear the loss.
It also prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul, bidding the late elder statesman farewell and describing him as a revered figure whose legacy would endure.
