The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed four police officers for their involvement in the killing of seven traders in the Owode Onirin area of the state.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, disclosed this on Thursday while addressing journalists at the Ikeja Police Officers’ Mess. He explained that investigations into the incident were still ongoing.
Jimoh revealed that the dismissed officers were allegedly brought from Nasarawa State by the principal suspect, identified as Ariori, and were involved in the unlawful killings.
The Commissioner assured the public that the command was committed to ensuring justice for the victims and their families, noting that ballistic and autopsy reports were already guiding the prosecution of the suspects.
“This matter has not been swept under the carpet, and we want the public and all the families of the victims to know that nobody can stop us from ensuring that justice is done,” Jimoh said.
“We will leave no stone unturned and will not be intimidated by anyone. All suspects will be prosecuted, and the courts remain open to hear every case.”
The seven traders were reportedly killed during a violent clash between suspected land grabbers and traders in the Owode Onirin area of Lagos in August last year.
Police authorities say further investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to bring all those responsible to justice.
